The Engineering Subject Centre has department contacts at over 80% of engineering departments across the UK and works closely through its contacts and its Associates, including at Cardiff and Glyndwr, to engage with staff in engineering departments at all Welsh HEIs. It does this through its department contacts, visits, development workshops, Open-Call Mini-Project funding, and its Teaching Award scheme.

There are 8 HEIs from a total of 12 in Wales which offer engineering degree programmes; the Centre specifically made targeted visits to a number of these institutions in advance of its promotion of a special Mini-Project funding for Wales call, awarding funds to projects at Glamorgan and at Cardiff.
