History of the Engineering Subject Centre
Why are you based at Loughborough?
The Engineering Subject Centre is located within the faculty of Engineering at Loughborough University as a result of a successful proposal to the UK higher education funding councils for the establishment of this national engineering subject centre.
Each of the 24 centres is based in a different host institution and all institutions in the UK were invited to bid to host a centre.
How long have you been operating?
The Centre was established in January 2000 and was known as LTSN Engineering.
What was the LTSN?
The LTSN was a major network of 24 subject centres and a single Generic Centre, funded by the UK higher educational funding councils. The functions of the network are now encompassed in the role of The Higher Education Academy.
