Engineering Subject Centre Workshop - Teaching Sustainable Design

Wednesday 26th January 2005, Loughborough University

This workshop offered delegates the opportunity to learn more about the teaching of sustainable design.

Introduction

The Engineering Council UK launched its Output Standards for Accredited Engineering Programmes in April 2004. This states that all future-accredited degree programmes in engineering will now be expected to demonstrate the introduction and inclusion of aspects of sustainability into the teaching curriculum - whether for increasing awareness, imparting of knowledge, or enhancing the skills base of our engineering students

The Engineering Subject Centre workshop on Teaching Sustainable Design provided a practical forum for academics to meet and discuss their teaching issues in sustainability. The event also featured the launch of a toolbox for the teaching of sustainable design.
