Do you have a pending accreditation visit for which you are preparing documentation? Would you like to review how and where your students are assessed in their programmes? Would your students like more feedback on their progress?
The easimap tool is a web-based tool developed to allow programme leaders to demonstrate coverage of intended learning outcomes across a programme and evidence how these learning outcomes are assessed.
Data can be entered into the easimap tool on assessment activities, assessment criteria, module and programme level learning outcomes and the structure supports users in mapping all these individual elements onto overall programme matrices.
easimap also has the facility to record student grades and feedback on assessment activities and this data, along with the mappings to learning outcomes, can also be exported as individual files for students. This may in turn be used by personal tutors or students to reflect on progress and to support PDP.

The EASIMAP Project was a JISC / Higher Education Academy Distributed
e-Learning Programme 2 project. The rationale for thisproject was based upon the need to: improve formative assessment and feedback; provide support for academics in response to new Engineering QAA Benchmark Statements, and evidence for professional accreditation requirements; and find a PDP/e-portfolio solution that both staff and students could embrace.
Supporting resources from the project include:
- A report that summarises the findings of a scoping survey (conducted in 2007), and including an inventory of PDP tools/e-portfolios used within Engineering
- A “stakeholder needs analysis” report developed on the basis of discussions with engineering academics, students, and professional institutions to help identify needs and stakeholder interests
- A report on the outcomes of the piloting of the EASIMAP Tool conducted in the academic year 2007-2008
- A Guide on the process of data transfer from EASIMAP to student’s PDP tools and e-portfolios
